From Friendship to Flavor: The Heart of Puerto Rican Coffee at Planta Café

Planta Café was born in Levittown, Puerto Rico, where three best friends—Adan J. Gonzalez, Omar De Jesus, and Jay Fuentes—turned their shared passion for coffee into a reality. Coming from different backgrounds, they were united by a deep love for coffee and the drive to create something special.

At Planta Café, we believe coffee is more than just a drink. It’s a connection—a bond that brings people together. Our story is built on friendship, and every cup of Yabisi Blend reflects that. We’re dedicated to crafting premium Puerto Rican coffee, using small-batch roasting methods to deliver rich, bold flavors in every brew.

Our approach is simple: combine the tradition of coffee-making with the efficiency of modern technology. This ensures that every cup of Planta Café coffee is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. While we embrace innovation, we stay true to the roots of artisanal coffee production, honoring the craft with every roast.

At Planta Café, our focus is on more than just coffee beans. We’re about community. When you sip our coffee, you’re joining a family that values quality, authenticity, and connection. Whether you’re a seasoned coffee enthusiast or just exploring new flavors, we’re here to share a unique coffee experience with you.

Taste the difference that passion, friendship, and commitment can bring to every cup. Planta Café invites you to experience coffee crafted with care, from the heart of Puerto Rico.

"Coffee, a nostalgic journey through cherished memories. My first sip at 13, secretly made by my late grandmother, sparked a lifelong love. Despite a hiatus, my career and studies rekindled my coffee passion. Exploring PR's coffee culture fueled my curiosity. Planta Café was born from conversations with friends, offering a purpose-driven coffee experience.

My coffee story began in 2013 when I took a job as a barista at a large coffee shop franchise. During my time there, I aimed to learn as much as I could about coffee, including its different origins and perfecting various brewing methods. In the short time I spent at that job, a new hobby was born – trying as many different blends, beverages, and brew methods as possible. Whenever I had the chance, I would visit a new independent coffee shop after exploring most of the ones in the Ft. Lauderdale area. This is when the idea of eventually creating my own coffee brand was born. A couple of late-night talks with the guys cemented what would now become Planta Café.

"My coffee journey began at my grandmother's house when I was 5 or 6 years old. I don't know if my mom knew, but I always remember it during my breakfasts. There was a time when I stopped drinking it, without any apparent reason, but years later, living in Guaynabo, I rediscovered my love for it. Five years have passed since then, and I continue to explore the depths of coffee, enjoying it without sugar or milk, especially through the Chemex method, valuing its purity and oils. Coffee is essential in my routine, whether to start the day or find inspiration. I'm always ready to share a cup and connect with friends passionate about coffee. That's how Planta Café was born."
